I was born in Columbus, Mississippi on Feb 3, 1934 and finished high school in Clinton, LA, where I met my wife, Laura. We were married on Feb 1, 1955 and have four children, of which three are still living. I have a BS in chemical engineering from LSU in June, 1957. In my professional career I have worked in research and deveopment, process engineering, project engineering, and production management. I particularly enjoyed process engineering. I went into environmental consulting in 1988, which I  still do part-time for about 4-8 weeks of the year. My area of environmental consulting expertise is regulatory compliance and air pollution control.

I was saved at age 10 in Columbus, Mississippi, into the Catholic Church by the way. I first came to a Baptist Church service when a close friend in high school invited me during a Sunday School promotion campaign. Due to strong influences from my Christian girlfriend(Laura) and her father, I was baptized in the 1st Baptist Church of Clinton, LA in 1952, and in 1965 ordained a deacon of Faith Baptist Church in Baton Rouge. I consider myself a conservative believer, i.e., inerrancy of the Scriptures, priesthood of the believer, eternal security, etc. In my opinion, the Southern Baptist Convention doctrine and statement of beliefs most closely follows New Testament teachings than any other denomination. I also believe that the Cooperative Program is the best thing man has yet devised to allow small churches, and even individuals, to meet the challenge of carrying out the great commission in Matthew 28.

My own assessment of any talents and abilities that the Lord may have given me is that He made me a jack-of-all trades. I think I can do a lot of things pretty well, but  I'm not really good at anything. I have sung in various choirs since I was 5 years old. I was Music Director of a Southern Baptist church in Iowa for 11 years. As my aging vocal chords allow, I still enjoy congregational singing and singing in the choir. I have taught in Sunday School and Church Training classes, taught many Bible studies, and have been superintendent of Sunday School and Church Training Director. I was once Youth Director and have served on most of the usual church committees. Sometimes it seems like I have been chairman of the Finance Committee for all my life.

I have been told my spiritual gifts are wisdom and administration. I feel my strong points are business management, problem solving, and oral and verbal communications. These, combined with my varied experience should help me try to meet the responsibilities entrusted to me by Redeemer Baptist Church. Other than my own spiritual growth, my top priorities at this point are to complete the legal steps required for the merger, get the financial management system in place, and help the Standing Committees get organized and functioning. I will need a lot of help from the Lord and from fellow Christian brothers and sisters to do so.
